Well, i haven’t really got into the Chanel Holiday Collections for the past two years. Just not the colours for me and the collection lacks that special holiday feeling that was present in previous holiday collections.
Anyway, the one thing that I really like from this years Libre Numero Rouges holiday collection are; the Rouge Allure lipsticks.
All lipsticks in the collection are numbered 1-4 and number 2 is my favourite.
Number one has a very pink base. Number 3 is a blue-based true red and; number 4 has an orange undertone, which i don’t wear well.
Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Colour No 2.
I really like this one because it is a cool toned raspberry red with a slight blue/purple undertone that shows in low light. It is a more wearable colour for people who have slightly yellow teeth, like myself.
Red is such a hard colour to wear anyway. Why make it harder than it needs to be?
The Rouge Allure lipstick is the best formula from Chanel. Saturated with colour and staying power and comes in beautiful click top packaging. They don’t cost a ridiculous price and are smooth and creamy. The matte is no exception. Chanel brought out the ‘comfortable matte’ lipstick a number of years ago and all the rest have followed suit.
Luminous and non-drying, they make even older lips like mine look great.
I also love this LE red packaging for the holiday season. Once the lipstick has finished, you can transfer the red top to any other Rouge Allure lipsticks you own. This is a real winner for me in the collection.
What i love especially about Chanel lipsticks is, they never transfer onto my teeth whereas; other high end brands do.
(Below are some comparisons with other red lipsticks i own. No 2 is very similar to Audacieuse and Romantic. Both are also Rouge Allure lipsticks).
Ombre Première Longwear Cream Eyeshadow. 806 Terre Brûlée.
The next thing i bought was; this wonderful Ombre Première eyeshadow.
Terre Brûlée is a highly pigmented warm copper shade which makes blue eyes pop. I do own other shades of copper from other brands but they are all different in tone.
I had been wanting this one for quite some time because i own Undertone, (Ombre Première) and; Rouge Brûlée, (new Illusion D’Ombre); other colours in this range and i love them so much.
(Above; Comparisons with some other copper eyeshadows i own. Tigre has pink sparkles and a pink undertone to it. Copperfield is a cooler tone and both shades from the quads are browner in tone. Météore is high in glitter and far less pigmented).
These eyeshadows are nothing like the original Illusion D’Ombre eyeshadows, (although i like them too). They are more of a cream eyeshadow that do not dry and are without the glitter. They are very well pigmented and do not crease in the eye socket at all. Very multi-faceted in colour and just blend out beautifully and i’m so happy i bought this one.
(Below left; Fluffy wants some expensive lunch and right; just a typical Sunday in my back garden, taking photo’s of my arm. What must the neighbours think ?!!)
There you have it. My Chanel picks for the holiday season. Not much money spent there compared with other years.
Take care and i will see you all soon. 😉
