Guerlain L’Essentiel Natural Glow Foundation………..Packed Full of Innovation!

Hi Everyone,

I just want to start by apologising to my Instagram followers because i promised them this review yesterday. Life sometimes takes centre stage. I did start writing it yesterday though.

There have been a number of high end foundation releases already this year and none had swept me off my feet. Nice! Yes, but almost same old with new packaging. Guerlain hooked me in with its natural ingredients and new bottle design.

Boasting 97% natural ingredients with no alcohol, silicones and mineral oils. 30 new shades and a skin-like finish.

The bottle design is something to behold. Gorgeous! An asymetric duo of bubbles. Thats my take on it. This is a statement piece to sit on your dresser encasing a statement foundation. Now! That’s the way to do it.

Guerlain L’Essentiel Natural Glow Foundation.

The foundation includes many skin care ingredients said to target fine lines, open pores and dryness. It also boasts of targeting blue light (phones, computers) and has an SPF 20. It wears for 16 hours with a subtle glow and has a light to medium coverage that feels very light on the skin.

The foundation brush is lovely and ergonomically designed.

This foundation is currently the only one sold worldwide with this level of technology in one single product. We know already that others are going to follow.

Initial Thoughts.

Foundation on my left of the face.

First off, i love the bottle design. Not travel friendly but very dresser friendly.

The foundation is 30ml and It comes with a pump. has a hefty price tag of £44./ 50 euros/ $56 US. however, it boasts of many benefits in one, as explained above.

One problem i had with previous foundations by Guerlain was, the lack of shade range. I found the shades 20 too pale and 30 too deep and could never get one to match. L’Essentiel has 30 shades varying from cool, neutral and warm tones. I opted for 03C although i think i could also be a 02W. This colour warms my complexion.

Application.

Foundation over the whole Face

I bought the brush that accompanies this foundation, which is travel and handbag friendly. It is retractable, anti-bacterial and has tightly packed, super soft bamboo hairs.

The brush is fantastic for a flawless, seemless finish. It really is too. I never normally opt for the ‘brush that comes with foundation’ because they are usually naff. Not this one. Its excellent at blending and speedy with it.

Two pumps of foundation does a light/medium cover on my face and i do need to add a concealer around my nose, under my eyes, as per usual. I would opt for 3 pumps for a medium coverage if you have a few blemishes or redness.

Wear Time.

I wore this over 5 days with various primers underneath and the first day without any.

The finished look.

I wore it with the Guerlain L’Or primer underneath on two consecutive occasions and with Chanel Le Blanc de Chanel primer underneath for another two.

My pores where reduced dramatically using L’Or and created a lovely base to apply the foundation. My pores where just slightly visible around my nose with Blanc de Chanel but the finish of the foundation was a lot more illuminated. Both gave the foundation amazing staying power, (i wore it for 11 hours) it never faded at all during the whole day. Admittedly, it is winter here and my skin is less oily.

The only time i noticed less staying power is when i wore it without any primer at all. It did still work well for at least 8 hours on me though.

Final Thoughts.

I think Guerlain got it, completely right. Make your product stand out from the start and get everyone talking about it on social media. This little glass bottle has done just that. We do live in a SM age and visuals sell.

.

This foundation did give my skin a subtle glow and blurred all the pores around my nose. No lines were accentuated at all. Very impressive! Skin heaven for mature skin! The best results came when it was paired with Guerlain L’Or primer for my base.

The colour match was perfect for me as it gave a touch of warmth to my skin.

The Guerlain foundation brush. Made with super soft bamboo bristles.

This foundation is going to work on any type of skin. I think even oily skins will benefit because it does dry down quickly. There is also a mild fragrance to it, which reminds me a tiny bit of Johnsons Baby Powder.

I’m so happy i passed on the other new releases of 2019 so far. This one has won the race for flawless/poreless longevity.

Take care and i will see you all soon. 😉
